Southport, CT – On Saturday, February 2, 2019 enjoy an open house at Pequot Library as part of the international celebration known as Take Your Child to the Library Day. Astonishing Chinese acrobat Li Liu is on hand, and just one hand at that, to perform for families at 10:30 a.m., followed by an afternoon of activities designed to highlight Pequot library’s offerings and to encourage children to explore the collection, get their library cards, and read!

Celebrate the Lunar New Year with Li Liu as she performs amazing stunts and tricks including balancing, plate spinning, and more! All ages welcome. Free and open to the public. Registration is recommended at pequotlibrary.org.

Liu was born in Shenyang in the northeast of China. At age 6 she began her acrobatic training, and the following year she attended the Chinese National Circus School. After winning a gold medal at the prestigious Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris, France, Liu traveled extensively throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia with the Liaoning Acrobatic Arts Troupe. She came to the United States in 2000 with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus and toured all over the country. She is a regular on the NBA and WNBA halftime circuits and also a featured performer on Princess Cruise Line. In 2010 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Pequot Library’s public programs are supported in part by the Town of Fairfield.
