Foster was most recently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Connecticut Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity. Her current work focuses on evaluating, improving, and advocating for improved nutrition evaluation and monitoring at food banks.
“We are glad to have Jaime with us,” said Connecticut Food Bank CEO Bernie Beaudreau. “Through her work at UCONN, she’s already familiar with the Connecticut Food Bank. In fact, she has brought national recognition to our effort to increase nutrition outcomes in collaboration with the UCONN Rudd Center.”
“Jaime brings a wealth of experience related to research with hungry and food insecure populations,” Beaudreau added, noting that Foster is already working on a project that will evaluate changes in food bank inventory as the Connecticut Food Bank and other food banks around the country drive toward more nutrition content, as well as developing a data measurement and analysis tool for food bank partner agencies to see the nutrition ranking of the foods as they place their orders with the food bank.
“Jaime’s knowledge of the challenges of hunger and their impacts on health and nutrition position her well to help us move forward on the Hunger to Health initiative we are implementing,” Beaudreau said.
Foster said she was looking forward to her new role. “The Connecticut Food Bank has been an important part of the food system in Connecticut and a leader in the drive toward improving health outcomes for people in need. I’m excited to be part of the team and to help move people from hunger to health and from hunger to more independent and stable lives.”
