The mission of the Stamford Public Schools is to provide an education that cultivates productive habits of mind, body and heart in every student.
Additionally, the BOE voted (8:0:0) to approve BOE Policy #0100:
The Stamford Public Schools will be a learning organization that continuously improves its effective, innovative and transformational teaching and learning. We will challenge, inspire and prepare all students to be productive contributing members of society.
As required by the Bylaws of the Board, the BOE will take a second and final vote at the November 28, 2017, meeting.
“While these statements may seem simple, they are packed with meaning that will become apparent as the district rolls out the underlying goals, objectives and initiatives in the coming months. Additionally the mission and vision are not only reflective of the good work we are already accomplishing, but more importantly are aspirational of where we want our students and staff to be in the coming years,” said Kim. “When each and every SPS student is challenged, inspired and prepared upon graduation and feels a sense of connection with their schools, then I know we have made progress.”
Currently, the district is working at the school and department levels to develop the strategies and initiatives that will have the greatest impact on student outcomes in support of the vision. Over the next few months, with the input of staff, students, parents and community members, the district will create a communications plan to more broadly share the mission, vision and progress of the district.
“Thank you to the more than 90 community and district leaders whose input and expertise have been invaluable in this process,” Kim said.
