FAIRFIELD, CT - Sacred Heart University will honor benefactors Frank and Marisa Martire at the 28th annual Discovery Gala Friday, April 21. The event, which raises funds for student scholarship programs, will take place at SHU’s new West Campus, the former General Electric corporate headquarters, and will include a special performance by baseball-great-turned-musician Bernie Williams.
The Martires grew up in Bridgeport and Frank, a 1969 SHU alumnus, currently serves as chairman of the University’s board of trustees. In 2014, SHU recognized the couple’s years of service, leadership and philanthropic commitment to the University by naming the new business and communications center after them.
Frank, who also holds a master’s degree in finance from the University of New Haven, began his career at the former Connecticut National Bank and Citicorp, followed by 15 years as CEO of Metavante Corporation in Wisconsin. He is currently executive chairman of Fidelity Information Services in Florida, where he and Marisa reside. They both hold various leadership roles in their community.
The gala is a cabaret-style fundraising event where friends of the University enjoy food, cocktails and entertainment in support of student scholarships.
