Western Connecticut Health Network Offers Health and Wellness programs on Integrative Medicine, Diabetes Awareness and Smoking Cessation

A Community Health Forum on Integrative Medicine will take place at New Milford Hospital on Wednesday, November 15 starting at 6 pm in the New Milford Hospital Cafe. The program explores ideas related to healthy food choices, disease and cancer prevention habits and lifestyle with information and resources available to inspire changes in behavior. Featured speakers will be Alexandra Chalif, MS, MP, Marcia Engle, QTTP, Lisa Marie Lee, Certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor and Gabriele Cronin, LMT, New Milford Hospital’s Integrative Medicine Practitioners. They will discuss their individual programs and services and provide demonstrations. For $8.50, community residents can enjoy a healthy and affordable meal prior to the program created by New Milford Hospital’s Award winning Plow to Plate Program® in partnership with Unidine Corporation. Western Connecticut Health Network will present a free health seminar on the Prevention and Management of Diabetes on Monday, November 27 at the Riverbrook Regional YMCA Meeting House, 404 Danbury Road in Wilton. The program takes place from 11 am to 12 pm featuring Nancy Held, MS, RD, CDE, Diabetes Nutrition Educator at Norwalk Hospital. Her presentation will focus on pre-diabetes and diabetes, prevention and management strategies. To register for this program, please call 1-866-NHB-WELL (1-866-642-9355).

Norwalk Hospital will offer a free, six-week smoking cessation program beginning Tuesday, January 2, 2018. The program is open to the public. Classes start at 6 pm and will be held in the third floor Pulmonary Department classroom. Norwalk Hospital’s smoking cessation program facilitators are Beverly Jacoby, RRT and Cheri Webesky, CRT.
